Annual Milwaukee Auto Show - Dates
Since the first Milwaukee auto show was held in 1907, it has become a popular annual event that kicks off the summer car buying season. While it has evolved through the years, the 2021 event will see some major changes.
The Greater Milwaukee International Car & Truck Show will be held for the first time at State Fair Park in West Allis (instead of the Wisconsin Center downtown) and has been pushed back to May 5 - 9.
“The decision was made because of COVID-19 restrictions,” says Jim Tolkan, president of the Automobile Dealers Association of Metro Milwaukee, which sponsors the show. “By holding the show at State Fair Park, with indoor and outdoor opportunities, we can better insure the safety of those who attend.”
However, some things will remain the same.
As usual, hundreds of the latest models of cars, trucks and crossovers will be on hand from all the major manufacturers. While experts will be available to answer questions, the show will allow visitors to take a close look at the vehicles in a no-pressure environment, kick the tires, check under the hood and even sit behind the wheel.
“Anyone interested in buying a car, whether in the near or the distant future, will enjoy the show as usual,” Tolkan says. “But some of the changes for 2021, such as a more central location with plenty of parking on site, will offer new appeal.”
The total amount of display space also is equivalent to previous years. The show will occupy two main buildings within close proximity at State Fair Park – the Exposition Hall and the Wisconsin Products Pavilion. The park itself is just off I-94, west of downtown Milwaukee and east of the Zoo Interchange.
“We are still in the planning stages and will make more details available closer to the show,” Tolkan says. “We are excited that the State Fair Park venue provides opportunities for new attractions and are looking forward to other possibilities.”
